Riddick will be rated R

Earlier this year, Vin Diesel claimed that Universal had given the green light to sci-fi sequel Riddick, despite knowing the film would likely be given an R-rating, and sure enough, that’s exactly the certificate the new film has been given. The MPAA has awarded the certificate on account of “strong violence, language and some sexual content/nudity”, which should please the movie’s core demographic of teenage boys and sci-fi gorehounds. The film will see the titular mercenary left for dead on a sun-scorched planet...

Bella re-connects with her human side in new Breaking Dawn clip: watch now

Breaking Dawn - Part 2 has released a new clip online, in which Bella attempts to remember what it was like to be human, in an attempt to blend in better. Apparently, the trick to appearing human is to adopt a poor posture, move incredibly slowly and blink an unnecessary amount. Basically, she needs to look a bit more slovenly, and she’ll be away. Sadly for her, it’s a trickier business re-learning to be human, than it might at first appear. Curse those superhuman vampire reflexes! Check it out, below… The new film...

New images of Don Johnson and Walton Goggins in Django Unchained

Django Unchained has released a new batch of images, giving us our first look at supporting players Walton Goggins and Don Johnson, as well as some new glimpses of the key players. Johnson looks suitably dapper in an all-white suit and slick haircut, while Goggins cuts a more grizzled figure as Billy Crash, Calvin Candie’s ruthless slave trainer. Johnson’s character is thought to be a rival slave-owner, who encounters Django and Schultz at some point along their journey. We don’t fancy him to avoid a bullet in the chest for...

Sure enough, the studio have found themselves a new broom, with Bryan Singer officially confirmed to occupy the director’s chair. Welcome back, Bryan! Singer directed the first two X-Men movies, and also worked on the script for Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class. He brings a wealth of experience to the table,...

Cameos galore for Captain America: The Winter Soldier

30 October 2012 3:05 AM, PDT

Marvel has worked so hard at establishing a common universe for all of its respective Avengers to inhabit, that it should come as no surprise to hear of them cameoing in each other's movies. Nevertheless, it’s still very cool. Variety has revealed that there will be several such cameos in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We already knew Black Widow was set to make an appearance, but now it emerges that both Nick Fury and Maria Hill will also be appearing. None of those should come as a major surprise, given that S.H.I.E.L.D. is the...

The new advert is entitled “surprise” and shows off the game’s new arsenal of weaponry, as various players find themselves suddenly undone at what they think is their moment of triumph. There’s even an A-list cameo from none other than Robert Downey Jr. himself. Talk about...

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For has added another pair of actresses to its ever-swelling ensemble, with Jaime King and Jamie Chung the latest starlets to hop on board Robert Rodriguez’s comic-book sequel. King played the prostitute Goldie in the first film; the source of Marv’s obsession, her death tips him over the brink. This time out, she’ll be playing Wendy, Goldie’s twin sister. Chung has come on board primarily as a replacement for Devon Aoki, who will not be reprising her role as the katana-wielding assassin,...

New red-band trailer for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters: watch now

30 October 2012 12:52 AM, PDT

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has released a new red-band trailer, covered head to toe in splatter and looking every bit as daft as one might expect. The film picks up some fifteen years after the events of the fairytale, with the titular brother-sister pairing having recovered from their childhood ordeal in order to carve a career out of witch-hunting. When children start disappearing from a small village, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) are recruited by the mayor to sort things out. However, it soon becomes clear...

Awesome new poster lands for The Wolverine

30 October 2012 12:25 AM, PDT

The Wolverine has released a batch of exciting new material online, including a brand new poster and a filmed Q and A, in which James Mangold and Hugh Jackman answer questions posed by the fans. Of most interest is Mangold’s explanation of how the new film will fit in alongside the existing X-Men movies, with the story picking up after the events of the original trilogy. “This film situates itself after the three X-Men movies that exist and finds Logan at a point when the X-Men are gone, Jean Grey is gone, a lot of the ties he...

Arnie might be dusting off the battle axe to return to the world of Conan The Barbarian, but he’ll have competition in the glistening-pec stakes, with a reboot of Masters Of The Universe also in the works. Director Jon Chu gave an interview with MTV recently, explaining where the project is currently at, and how his team is seeking to achieve the right tone. “We’re working on the script, to make it better and stronger,” says Chu. We’re designing a bunch of stuff. I learned on [G.I. Joe: Retaliation] that to make...

First poster and new trailer arrive for A Good Day To Die Hard

29 October 2012 5:49 AM, PDT

A Good Day To Die Hard has released a first official poster online, and pleasingly, it’s devoted rather a lot of space to a big old pun. The new one-sheet shows a close-up of Bruce Willis’ grizzled old face accompanied by the words, “Yippie Ki-Yay Mother Russia”. Yep, that’s some good punning. There's also a new trailer to chow down on. Take a look, below... As you might have guessed from that aforementioned tagline, the new movie will find John McClane way out East, where his estranged son (Jai Courtney) has...

New poster for Texas Chainsaw 3D

29 October 2012 3:28 AM, PDT

Texas Chainsaw 3D has released a brand new poster, in which Leatherface reveals his new look while shoving a big old chainsaw up in your grill. To be honest, no updated incarnation is ever going to top the deranged visage of Tobe Hooper’s original bogeyman, but this new Leatherface does look off-kilter enough to provide a few scares of his own. The new film will pick up where the events of the original left off, with a lone survivor escaping the attentions of the cannibalistic Sawyer family and fleeing to the town of Newt, Texas, to...

It also broke the highest ever attendance record for a Saturday in the UK, as hordes of 007 fans flocked to the cinema to catch it as soon as possible. The film enjoyed similar success overseas, racking up an overall take of $77m across all territories. Expect...

The new spot contains more of the sweeping landscapes and dwarf-based rabble-rousing that we’ve become accustomed to, as well as throwing in a few new tidbits, such as the aforementioned troll-fest. “Can we cook him?” inquires one of the brutes, greedily. “I really wouldn’t risk it,” splutters our diminutive hero… Check it out, below… The meeting the...

29 October 2012 1:10 AM, PDT

Last week’s grand unveiling of the Iron Man 3 trailer gave us a first official look at Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin, with the Oscar-winning actor looking supremely menacing as one of Tony Stark’s greatest foes. Marvel bigwig Kevin Feige has since broken cover to discuss Kingsley’s performance in the film, revealing that his input has given the franchise a whole new lease of life. “On his last take of his first full day as the Mandarin, when they yelled ‘Cut!’ the entire crew burst into applause,...
