At the beginning of Iron Man 3, Tony's just literally saved the world from destruction.
Sure, he did it as part of a team, but it was his selfless act that proved decisive.
He should be having constant parties to celebrate.
And yet, here he is unable to sleep because he's having nightmares.
Perhaps those nightmares contain a clue…

I thought it was machine, then sheep, now I think SHIELD. Its a good list but its missing the biggest question from the whole trailer; why does the Mandarin have a tattoo of Cap's shield?

I'm guessing Tony destroys his owns suits, recuperates and becomes Iron Patriot. Why doesnt Marvel own the rights to Norman Osborne? That sucks.

Could the suit waking Pepper and Tony in bed be one of Tony's nightmares perhaps? His subconcious telling them that his Iron Man persona is putting her in danger?

The Iron Patroit's most likely fighting (and eventually killing) Happy Hogan. He's seen bloody and battered in the preview, he always wears a suit and tie (as seen in the last two movies) and who else is tasked with protecting Tony the civilian? I don't see Jon reprising the role past this film, the death of the character could be a part of what destroys his world.

Looks a bit like the Black Widow pushing Tony up against a wall.

I can personally guarantee everyone, and bet my life savings, that Happy Hogan is in the Suit... I've read every single Ironman Comic... I specifically remember when Hogan put on the Suit to protect Tony.. He tricked the Mandarin into thinking he was Stark, and he Captured him by a teleportation device... Stark then had to rescue him by fighting mandarin in hand to hand combat... In the trailer, when Hogan is on the floor all bashed up, you can see an Arc Reactor on his chest glowing....... I bet he is waking then up in a hurry to warn them (Jarvis probably contacted him).. Standing over Stark, telling him to get out of there and that he's doing the sacrifice play.. Also, he has no clue how to operate the suit (Even with Jarvis' help).. So that he is fumbling around, getting tangled up, and not being able to fly away makes perfect sense......

If you look at the pictures of it on Apple Trailers the left chest of this suit says James Rhodes. Its War Machine's suit.

As seen on another site... "In chatting with Pepper Potts in one scene, Stark name drops the Mark XLVII (that’s 47) as the designation number of his current suit. Seeing as by the end of The Avengers, he’s only at the Mark VII, that’s an awfully large amount of armored suit upgrades, and Potts inquires about exactly that. The reason is that the 40 models in between are drones that Stark can control remotely from his Mark VIII suit."... this may explain the armor looming over Tony and Pepper, if this isn't a nightmare of course. The Iron Patriot armor has been confirmed as a redesign of Rhodey's War Machine Armor. If the woman getting up close and personal with Tony isn't Maya Hansen it may be Madam Masque, though I'd be surprised if they tried to cram in yet another supervillan Into a story that already has at least 3!
