There’s a lot not to like about Windows Mobile and one of them happens to be the Start Menu system. It’s just not practical to navigate with a large number of programs and it’s not even easy to reorganise how it lists them. LaunchPad is an attempt to replace it with an iPhone-style sliding selection of homepages dubbed favourites. To this you can add: programs, settings, file/folders and contacts. It starts off with two pages but more are created automatically. Besides this it provides a standard alphabetical list of installed programs, the same for settings and a new task manager.
It’s a relatively slick interface that, if you select it, will replace the Windows button on your phone with a well designed program launcher. There’s a basic skinning system that really just changes the colour scheme but this as with similar programs doesn’t extend beyond the launcher app.
On our HTC Touch 2 the scrolling wasn’t perfect but good enough and for those who are heavy app users this would make a good alternative, though it can’t do anything for the rest of Windows Mobile.

Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day
A beautifully animated storybook mainly targeted at little girls, but nothing that particularly jumps out as unique.

CircleTime
CircleTime is confusing at first, but reveals itself to be a an interesting way of viewing your calendar. It might be overkill for many, though.

Chrono&Cash;
Initially off-putting, but perseverance and a little patience reaps rewards, revealing one of the best quickfire platform games for iOS.

Chore Monster
A good idea. Sign up procedure could be easier, but it all works once you’re in.

Catapult King
A well-crafted little projectile firing game, but the fling soon wears off.

AXL: Full Boost
Could have been a contender, but in play, AXL veers between being as sterile as its environments or as frustrating as a bug in a pint.

Astronaut Spacewalk
Continental drift-paced space action that needs an iPad version and better controls. Still compelling and lovely, though.

Art Studio for iPad
One of the most feature-rich and versatile image editing and creation apps on the market, but lacks the focus of its main rivals.
