LA GRANGE — Lyons Township High School has announced it will host an induction of five new members to its Hall of Fame. Each day this week we will feature one of them – see the whole list.

Luke Sewall, M.D. graduated from LT in 1980 and earned degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was a four-year letterman and academic All American, and from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency in Madison at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinic, and he completed a fellowship in interventional radiology at Charles Dotter Institute of Interventional Therapy, within the Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Sewall is the founder and managing partner of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR), the largest private practice group of full-time interventional radiologists in Illinois. VIR, founded in 2006, is a group that dedicates its time to clinical and minimally invasive treatments of peripheral vascular disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms, cancer, venous insufficiency, and uterine fibroids. Dr. Sewall’s mission within this private practice is to attempt to provide treatments for disease that are less invasive, less painful and less expensive than traditional measures. Dr. Sewall completed the first fibroid embolization ever performed in a gorilla. He also designed and made his own covered stents, which he used to treat aneurysms in the thoracic aorta.

Dr. Sewall has been on the Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors since 2009, where he continues to uphold outstanding character, leadership and integrity.
