Standard delivery

Australia Post provides a complete range of mail services. The following information outlines various letter types and sizes, postage costs and delivery times.

All prices shown are valid as of 28 June 2010 and include GST.

Small letters

A small letter has the following characteristics:

• no larger than 130mm x 240mm
• no thicker than 5mm
• maximum weight 250g.

Exceptionally small letters that are paid for by a postage meter or via the use of a Postage Paid imprint (and paid for by an Australia Post charge account)	$0.58
Seasonal greeting card enclosed in a sealed envelope and endorsed CARD ONLY - only available during November and December	$0.55
Priority Letter*	$2.60

Priority Letter

* Priority Letter is an over-the-counter business-day lodgement service available Australia-wide for letters up to 20g.

It offers next-business-day delivery for sending letters up to 20g as follows:

• between metropolitan areas of capital cities,
• within the same city
• between inter-state cities to the following postcodes:
  Sydney (2000 - 2249);  Canberra (2600 - 2620); Melbourne (3000 - 3207); Brisbane (4000 - 4179); Adelaide (5000 - 5174); Perth (6000 - 6005 & 6800 - 6899); Hobart (7000 - 7019, 7050 - 7053, 7055). The next-day service ex-Perth is restricted to other States CBD postcodes. For other areas, the delivery is on priority basis by the fastest available means.

Large letters

A large letter is an article which exceeds at least one of the small letter dimensions and has the following characteristics:

• rectangular in shape
• no larger than 260mm x 360mm
• no thicker than 20mm
• does not weigh more than 500g.
