What are 24/7 Parcel Lockers?

24/7 Parcel Lockers are a convenient alternative to home delivery that allow you to collect your parcels at a time and place that fits in with your lifestyle.

Instead of having a parcel delivered to your home address, you can now choose to have it delivered to one of our secure, 24/7 Parcel Lockers. You can collect your parcel anytime that suits you within 48 hours of receiving an email and SMS notification advising your parcel is available for collection.

Please note that from 1 January 2013, Australia Post will not accept domestic or international parcels from other carriers into our Parcel Lockers, unless those parcels have been lodged by the carriers as Australia Post articles addressed to the recipients' Parcel Lockers. StarTrack is a subsidiary of Australia Post, and parcels carried by StarTrack will be accepted for delivery into Parcel Lockers.

Where possible, customers are advised to check which shipping partners or parcel delivery provider/s are available on the website they're buying from.

How do I register for a 24/7 Parcel Locker?

You can register online at auspost.com.au/parcellockers to use the 24/7 Parcel Locker service. We will assign you a unique Parcel Locker Customer ID and a Parcel Locker address which will look like this:

Your Parcel Locker address can be used as your shipping address when you shop online.

How do 24/7 Parcel Lockers work?

1. When you register online, we will assign you a Parcel Locker address that includes your unique Parcel Locker Customer ID. Use this address to have your parcels delivered directly to your locker rather than to a home or work address.

2. Once your parcel is placed in a Parcel Locker, you will be notified by email and SMS to collect it and will be provided with a one-off access code to open the locker. You will have 48 hours to collect your parcel.

3. When you arrive at the locker location, please go to the console and follow the on screen prompts. The locker door will open once you enter your access code, allowing you to collect your parcel. When the locker door is opened, the software that supports the lockers will record that the parcel has been collected and if required, advise the sender that the parcel has been delivered to you.

4. Please close the locker door once you have collected your parcel.

If your parcel is not collected within 48 hours, it will be removed from the Parcel Locker and transferred to the nearest Australia Post facility offering parcel collection during business hours. We will remind you before this happens.

If your parcel is transferred to an Australia Post facility for collection, we will notify you by email and SMS that your parcel has been moved, where to collect it from, and the trading hours for that outlet.

What is the cost of using the 24/7 Parcel Locker service?

There is no cost to use the service.

If I register, will I have a dedicated Parcel Locker just like a PO Box?

No, you will not have a dedicated Parcel Locker - you will have a dedicated Parcel Locker Customer ID (e.g. C123456). Each time you receive a parcel it will be placed in a locker that best suits the size of your item.

What can I send to my 24/7 Parcel Locker?

You can send any parcel to your 24/7 Parcel Locker, with the following exceptions:

  • Letters and standard mail
  • Express Post letters
  • Parcels that are bigger than our biggest locker (41cm x 38cm x 64cm)
  • Parcels that are heavier than 16kg
  • Parcels containing perishables
  • Parcels containing alcohol
  • Parcels that require proof of identity
  • Parcels where there is a payment required on delivery
  • Parcels sought to be delivered by carriers that have not been lodged as Australia Post articles

Can I send international parcels to my Parcel Locker?

Yes, international parcels can be directed to your Parcel Locker. However, from 1 January 2013, Australia Post will not accept international parcels from other carriers into our Parcel Lockers, unless those parcels have been lodged by the carriers as Australia Post articles addressed to the recipients' Parcel Lockers.

In addition, where the registered name for a Parcel Locker does not match the addressee's name on the parcel, or if a request is made to record details of the recipient's ID, we will not be able to place the parcel in a Parcel Locker.

Can carriers other than Australia Post deliver parcels to the 24/7 Parcel Lockers?

Australia Post will not accept domestic or international parcels from other carriers into our Parcel Lockers from 1 January 2013, unless those parcels have been lodged by the carriers as Australia Post articles addressed to the recipients' Parcel Lockers.

StarTrack is a subsidiary of Australia Post, and parcels carried by StarTrack will be accepted for delivery into Parcel Lockers.

Where possible, customers are advised to check which shipping partners or parcel delivery provider/s are available on the website they're buying from.

If the other carriers choose not to lodge the parcels addressed to recipient's Parcel Lockers as Australia Post articles, those carriers will need to contact the recipient or sender to organise an alternative delivery address.

When can I collect my package from a 24/7 Parcel Locker?

All Parcel Lockers are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

How often can I use a 24/7 Parcel Locker?

You can use the 24/7 Parcel Locker service as often as you want.

Can I register to receive parcels at more than one 24/7 Parcel Locker location?

You can only register for one parcel locker location at this time.

How will I know when my parcel is ready for collection?

You will receive an email and SMS when your parcel is placed in a locker, with instructions on how to open the locker.

How do I unlock my 24/7 Parcel Locker?

Simply follow the console's on-screen prompts. You will be asked to enter the one-off access code sent to you via email and SMS. The locker door will open when the access code is entered, allowing you to collect your parcel.

What if I forget my access code?

You will need to refer to your email or SMS which contain your access code. You can also sign in to your parcel locker account at http://lockers.auspost.com.au to obtain this information.

What if I accidentally delete the email and SMS which contain my access code?

A reminder email and SMS will be sent to you 24 hours before the parcel is removed from the locker. Alternatively, you can sign in to your parcel locker account at http://lockers.auspost.com.au to obtain this information.

How secure is my 24/7 Parcel Locker?

All Parcel Lockers have a secure electronic locking mechanism. If the power fails, the locker unit will close down and all doors will remain shut. The unit will restart when the power is restored.

How long do I have to pick up my parcel from my 24/ 7 Parcel Locker?

You will have 48 hours from the time the parcel enters the locker to collect your parcel. You will receive an SMS and email when the parcel is placed in the locker, and a reminder SMS and email 24 hours before the parcel is due to be removed from the locker.

What happens if I can't pick up my parcel within the timeframe?

If your parcel is not collected within 48 hours from the time it enters the locker, it will be removed from the Parcel Locker and transferred to the nearest Australia Post facility offering parcel collection during business hours.

If your parcel is transferred to an Australia Post facility for collection, we will notify you by email and SMS that your parcel has been moved, where to collect it from, and the trading hours for that outlet.

You will then have five days to pick up your parcel.

Can family members use my 24/7 Parcel Locker?

No, only parcels addressed to you can be delivered to your Parcel Locker as the recipient name on the parcel must match the registered name for the Parcel Locker service. If your family members want to use a Parcel Locker, they will need to register for their own Parcel Locker Customer ID. Please be aware that each registration requires a unique email address.

Can parcels requiring ID on delivery be delivered to the 24/7 Parcel Lockers?

No, parcels requiring ID on delivery cannot be delivered to a Parcel Locker as these items require a specified personal ID to be checked and recorded at the time of delivery.

What if I have difficulty accessing high or low lockers?

We will ask you if you can only access lockers of a certain height when you register for a Parcel Locker, and will endeavour to meet your requirements.

How do I close my 24/7 Parcel Locker account?

To opt-out of the Parcel Locker service, sign in to your Parcel Locker account at http://lockers.auspost.com.au and select the 'Your account' tab followed by 'Opt-out'. We will send you an email with a link for you to click on to confirm that you are opting-out of the service.
