Quit Worrying About What Other Photographers Charge
When the lines between a "professional" photographer and an "amateur" or "hobbyist" are getting more and more blurry I often wonder if it truly matters.
Sure, you can argue that it does at certain times. You probably wouldn't want to trust an amateur to shoot your wedding, right? Except that we do. Or at least the general public does. And they do it often.

In fact, it's how most wedding photographers get their start. It's often how they build their portfolio before they quit their day jobs.
And some people simply cannot afford to hire a veteran pro photographer who is charging a well deserved premium.
So what's wrong with that?
There will always be a place for amateurs to work their way into becoming a professional photographer if that's the path they choose. There will always be a need for them from young couples who are strapped for cash.
And if you're a seasoned pro why would you waste your time arguing about other photographers in your area who are not charging enough (in your opinion). The people they cater to wouldn't buy your services anyway. They cannot afford them.
And that's all okay. If you're a seasoned pro and you're charging a well enough rate and your product is good and your services are amazing then you should be spending your time marketing those traits that differentiate yourself as a premium photographer.
You cannot serve everyone.
Don't worry about what other photographers charge. Worry about showing your potential clients the value that you bring to your products and services. Your target audience isn't everyone in your city or your town. It's the people who value your work and can afford you.
