Mission/Objectives
- Function as a scientific and professional reference group
- Encourage a better understanding of human condition and suffering based on the principles of functional-contextual science, disseminating this functional-contextual approach in the United Kingdom and Ireland
- Identify and promote the development and dissemination of principle based interventions that are clearly based in functional contexutal sceince
- Encourage coordination among researchers and clinicians in the United Kingdom and Ireland
- Support our members in their efforts to gain ongoing training and further develop competencies in this field
- Encourage the developement of appropriate supervision for our members
- Organize and sponsor forums, conferences, newsletters, journals, websites, list serves and other such activities for the accomplishment of the purposes of the organization
- Promote the dissemination of Third-Wave Therapies both in the private arena and the public context, encouraging a new model of psychological health, beased on growth and flexibility across diverse settings in health, social care, education and the justice system in United Kingdom and Ireland
- Liase and make representations as appropriate to the BABCP, BPC, HPC & other professional groups with an interest in psychological approaches
- Encourage UK and Ireland - based practitioners to connect with the ACBS and advance reticulated contextual science
- Encourage and promote connection with other ACBS Chapters particularly across Europe
Description of Membership:
- Those in the United Kingdom and Ireland who identify themselves as scientists, students, or practitioners who embrade the principles and practices of contextual behavioural science, or for the interested public.
- All members of the United Kingdom and Ireland ACBS Chapter must be in good standing of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science.
- Members shall be regarded without discrimination on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, political affiliation, or physical or mental disability.
