Captiva vacationers return to have their wedding on island
Captiva Island was already a special place for Raegan and Anthony Zerilli. They had been vacationing there yearly since they had met. Growing up on the east coast of Florida, Anthony had been traveling to the island with his family for most of his life. So when they decided to have a destination wedding, they knew Captiva would be the place.

Raegan, a Boston native, says that the biggest challenges of a destination wedding are juggling multiple vendors without a planner and making travel arrangements for the guests. But these challenges were alleviated by staying in Otter Banks, one of Royal Shell’s “Celebration Homes” that are specifically designed to house large functions like weddings and reunions. With private grounds and a separate guest house for the wedding couple, Otter Banks gave the bride & groom privacy while allowing them to spend quality time with their family and friends.
And they didn’t have to travel far for the ceremony, which took place at the beach across the street. The reception was held under a tent on the property.
The couple used multiple vendors from the area to make their wedding day complete, including Floral Artistry of Sanibel for the flower arrangements, Black Tie entertainment to DJ the reception, and Mielke Photography for wedding photos. And Barbara Harrington, Celebrations Director for Royal Shell, was an essential resource from beginning to end.

“Barb did an excellent job,” Notes Zerilli. “She was very patient with showing us all of the available properties and setting the expectations before and after. Royal Shell has always been great to deal with in general with myself and my family trips to Captiva Island. My husband and his family have been renting through Royal Shell ever since my husband was a child, and still do!”
The bride says her most memorable moment of the entire experience was, of course, walking down the sand to her husband-to-be.
Zerilli’s advice to someone looking to plan a destination wedding is simple:
“The atmosphere and people are enough to make any wedding beautiful,” she says.
