Everyone knows the smooth rogue bastard captain of the Millennium Falcon, the ship that makes the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, and everyone fears the jetpack-rocking bounty hunter with the coolest armor this side of the Sarlacc.

So it only makes sense that Disney is planning standalone Star Wars movies for both Han Solo and Boba Fett.

Well here's a slice of fried gold: Marvel Studios and director James Gunn have chosen Chris Pratt to star in the interstellar adventure Guardians of the Galaxy.  Yes, that's right.  Agent Bert Macklin is starring in a Marvel movie.

Since purchasing Lucasfilm for a few billion dollars of spare change presumably pilfered from Mickey's couch cushions, Disney has been making big plans for Star Wars, plans that have been the subject of no small amount of speculation.

One part of Disney's plan, according to a new rumor, is a standalone Star Wars movie devoted to the iconic Jedi Master Yoda.

With pretty much all the Avengers of The Avengers, the future is clear.  Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America are getting sequels in Marvel's Phase Two, and characters like Black Widow are showing up in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  But what about Hulk?  Marvel finally got Bruce Banner and his smash-happy id right in last summer's superhero team-up, so where is Hulk heading in Phase Two?  And beyond that, how can we expect Banner to play into the Phase Three that Marvel is most assuredly hashing out even now?

A new rumor purports to map out the future of the cinematic Hulk, and, if true, reveals some crucially important plot points for The Avengers 2 and more.

For four decades now, through tectonic shifts in animation technology and much controversy, the International Animated Film Association has done its part during awards season, acknowledging excellence in the animated arts.  The 40th Annual Annie awards went down at UCLA's Royce Hall this weekend at a ceremony hosted by Leonard Maltin, Rob Paulsen, and Maurice Lamarche, with a surprise appearance from Seth Green.

The big winner at this year's Annie Awards was definitely Disney's Wreck-It Ralph, which won no fewer than five awards.

Marvel Studios has been laying on the Iron Man 3 promotion pretty thick an anticipation of this Sunday's sixty-second Super Bowl TV spot.  So it's no surprise that Disney has dropped a new image featuring a cast member who hasn't been properly showcased thus far.

Iron Man 3 is but one of two Marvel Studios movies arriving this year, though, and with that in mind, there's also a new behind the scenes image from November's Thor: The Dark World.

Wednesday, 30 January 2013 14:01

Disney is really taking advantage of Super Bowl XLVII – an oasis of television actually viewed live by every demographic – and the studio wants you to be very, very excited about its Super Bowl TV spots.  That means commercials for commercials.

The latest is a ten-second glimpse of the spot for Iron Man 3, the returns of Marvel Studios' resident rock star.

You just can't keep a good Muppet down.

Jim Henson's beloved creations are returning to theaters next year with The Muppets...Again!, a sequel to The Muppets, and producer Todd Lieberman has provided IAR with an exclusive update on the production, which is underway in Europe as you read.

In anticipation of some sort of sporting event this Sunday, Disney is offering yet another commercial for a commercial with a glimpse at new footage from this summer's The Lone Ranger.

And maybe because a twenty-second tease of a piece of advertising feels a little insubstantial, the little sneak peek is accompanied by a brand new one sheet featuring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp as the title character and Tonto, respectively.

The Super Bowl, a showcase for football and unbridled advertising of every stripe, will doubtless contain many a TV spot for some the biggest movies arriving over the next six months.  One of the showcased films will be March's Oz the Great and Powerful.  Disney has released a tiny, ten second glimpse at the TV spot we'll see during the game between the 49ers and the Ravens on February 3rd.

And because we feel terrible about posting a commercial for a commercial, dear Rogues, we also have a brand new character poster for Oz the Great and Powerful, this one featuring the endlessly lovely Mila Kunis in a giant red hat.  Fair enough, right?
