Cycling Directions in Google Maps

As part of the ACT Government’s commitment to active transport, on and off road cycle path data is now available to provide cycle directions to the public via Google Maps. This enables people to plan a combined bicycle and bus journey with the one online service.

How do I use it?

To access the cycle maps, navigate to https://maps.google.com.au/. From here select Get Directions. Enter your start and end points for your journey. When a journey within the Canberra region is entered, a bicycle icon will appear amongst your mode of transport choices.

Example Google Maps directions

When the bicycle mode is selected bicycle paths are visible with green highlights.

Why not try planning your journey by bike to your nearest bike and ride location?
