Game Debuts

THE iDOLM@STER SHINY FESTA: Harmonic Score – ($54.99)

And you thought Square Enix's App Store prices were bad! 15 bucks for a Final Fantasy seems positively cheap in comparison to this latest release from Namco Bandai -- and it's just one of three releases priced at the same $50+ level. Will anyone actually buy this?

THE iDOLM@STER SHINY FESTA: Rhythmic Record – ($54.99)

If you're unfamiliar with "THE iDOLM@STER," it's a previously Japan-only rhythm/sim franchise where you step into the role of a talent agent in charge of working with up-and-coming pop music stars. The stars are almost always excessively smiley young girls – sometimes fully clothed, sometimes not.

THE iDOLM@STER SHINY FESTA: Melodic Disc – ($54.99)

Listen, real talk here, please don't buy all three of these games. Even one of them would set you back an amount of cash that would otherwise be redeemable for dozens of other top picks from the Store – buying all three would cost $164.97, which is getting up into the territory of being enough cash to get an entirely new device to play games on. (Heck, a 3DS is cheaper than that.) We don't know how this pricing strategy will play out for Namco Bandai, but don't let your wallet be their guinea pig in this experiment.

Price Drops

Table Top Racing – ($0.99)

It's the Toy Story/Micro Machine-scaled racing game where your cars are tiny, but the action's as fast as with any full-sized automobiles. It's dropped down to just 99 cents today. Take a look:

Freebies!

League of Evil 2 – (Free)

It's been over a year since this sequel debuted now, and Justin liked it to the tune of an 8.0 review score back then. Today, it's free. So grab it!

Super Mega Worm vs. Santa 2 – (Free)

Everybody's got Jolly Old Saint Nick on their mind in the month of April, right? Satisfy your Kris Kringle craving with this action epic:

Outland Games – (Free)

This one’s title sounds like the name of a game studio, not a game itself. But no, this one’s from Uber Entertainment – the makers of Monday Night Combat. It features the same characters and setting as MNC, too.

Super Durak – (Free)

A virtual version of the classic Russian card game.

Max Awesome – (Free)

Fans of Trials HD, Excitebike or the Joe Danger series should take a look at Max Awesome, the latest motorcycling daredevil to flip his way through dangerous obstacle courses:

That’s it for today! Email subscriptions to the App Store Update are still just one sign-up away, right here:
