Report: Bombing Suspect Called Montgomery Village Uncle, Asked For Forgiveness

USA Today: Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the 26-year-old identified by police as the dead Boston bombing suspect, called his uncle Thursday night and asked for forgiveness.

One of the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings called one of his uncles in Montgomery Village on Thursday night to ask forgiveness, USA Today reported. Tamerlan Tsarnaev—the 26-year-old identified by police as the dead Boston bombing suspect—spoke with his uncle, Alvi Tsarni, for the first time in more than two years, according to the report. "He said, 'I love you and forgive me,'" Alvi Tsarni said, according to the report. Alyona Joy Mayo and her 2-week-old daughter were reported missing Wednesday.

Updated 7:14 p.m.: A missing Gaithersburg woman and her 2-week-old daughter were located Thursday, a Montgomery County police spokeswoman said. Alyona Joy Mayo, 20, and daughter, Syrena Mayo, were reported missing by family members who said they hadn’t seen Mayo since Wednesday night. Police said in a news release that Mayo functioned at the level of an 11-year-old. Montgomery County police Officer Janelle Smith said the missing person alert was cancelled at 5:30 p.m.  A representative from Lakeforest Mall said in an email that Mayo was found at the shopping center. A fire in a vacant North Potomac home Wednesday night took more than 55 firefighters to put out, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told Patch. Firefighters were dispatched to the 14900 block of Talking Rock Court around 8 p.m., MCFRS spokesperson Beth Anne Nesselt said. First reponders reported a large fire in a vacant single-family home that is under construction. Firefighters took a defensive approach, controlling and extinguishing the fire quickly, Nesselt said. MCFR Fights Fires Wednesday In Two Gaithersburg Apartment Complexes

No one was injured in either fire, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.

Firefighters doused two fires in Gaithersburg apartment complexes Wednesday, according to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson. Around 3:30 p.m., MCFR officials were dispatched to the 9900 block of Shelburne Terrace for the report of a building fire, MCFR spokesperson Beth Anne Nesselt said. Four hours later, they were sent to the 400 block of Christopher Avenue for a similar report. Firefighters arriving at the Shelburne Terrace location reported a fire in the "breezeway/first floor" entranceway to the apartment complex, Nesselt said. Gaithersburg resident and former non-profit head Scott Richard Swirling pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Tuesday to charges stemming from a child-sex sting, The Washington Examiner reports. Swirling pleaded guilty to traveling interstate to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minorand faces a maximum sentence of 30 years as well as a fine of up to $250,000, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia.   The U.S. Army staff sergeant involved in the Germantown murder-suicide was already under investigation for marrying a former recruit, an Army spokeswoman told The Gazette. An investigation of Staff Sgt. Adam Ardnt began in March after discovering Ardnt had married Kaitlyn Amy Schum Ardnt, who was recruited at the Gaithersburg Army recruiting center, The Gazette reports. Recruiters are not supposed to have personal relationships with recruits. On April 8, Montgomery County police found the bodies of Ardnt and 17-year-old Michelle Miller in Ardnt’s Germantown home.
