Glasgow tested by Twente in qualifying round

The highest-ranked side in the qualifying round, Glasgow City LFC, face a tough trip to FC Twente while the only ever-presents play debutants after the eight groups were drawn.

The highest-ranked side in the 2013/14 UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying round, Glasgow City LFC, face a tough trip to FC Twente after the eight groups were drawn.

In all, 32 teams will start the competition in the qualifying round and they were split into eight groups of four, to be played between 8 and 13 August. Glasgow, who made the round of 16 in 2011/12, are in Group 8 hosted by Twente, who won the inaugural Dutch-Belgian BeNe League, along with experienced WFC Osijek of Croatia and Malta's Birkirkara FC.

Like Glasgow, Poland's RTP Unia Racibórz will be seeded in the round of 32 if they progress, but it will not be easy in Group 5 against former quarter-finalists FC Bobruchanka of Belarus, Slovenian hosts WFC Pomurje and Albania's Ada Velipoje.

Faroese champions KÍ Klaksvík, the only team to participate in all 13 editions of this competition, travel to Portugal to play one of five debutants in this round – Clube Atlético Ouriense, plus Montenegro's WFC Ekonomist and FC Zürich Frauen, helped to last season's Swiss double by the now departed Inka Grings and Sonja Fuss.

The eight qualifying group winners, plus the two runners-up with the best record against the sides first and third in their section, procede to the draw for the round of 32 on 5 September alongside the 22 clubs entering at that stage, including holders VfL Wolfsburg.

The two-legged knockout phase begins in October with the final on Thursday 22 May in Lisbon, two days before the men's UEFA Champions League decider at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
