An aircraft used to provide rotary wing training for test pilots will be on static display at this summer's Air Tattoo as as part of celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the Empire Test Pilots' School.

The school has two instrumented A109 helicopters in its rotary wing training fleet that have been extensively modified for training purposes. They feature full authority digital engine control and glass cockpits with integrated instrumentation read-outs for both the pilot and flight test engineer students. Dedicated flight test engineer consoles have been mounted in the main cabin enabling students to monitor parameters in real time and the data to be recorded in-flight and downloaded for later analysis via USB key.
