The cheap, the vanilla and the gaudy.
Like every year before it, this year will see the release of a brand new iPhone, but unlike every year before it, this year will see the release of a higher end and a lower end iPhone alongside the flagship Apple phone.
On September 10th Apple will host an event to present this year's new iPhone flavor, the iPhone 5S, which will be an upgraded version of last year's iPhone 5. A lower end model dubbed the iPhone 5C will also release alongside the standard model.

The iPhone 5C will be encased in plastic, which will in itself come in different colors, instead of the typical black anodized aluminum and will likely feature lower end components to justify the still unannounced lower price.

Where the lower-end iPhone 5C will cater to price-savvy consumers, the leaked chassis of the high-end apple device, which still lacks a leaked name, will hypothetically cater to tacky 1980s drug dealers as it will be entirely gold.
It's important to note that along with the new phones Apple will be releasing its new mobile operating system, iOS 7. This will be the biggest change in the software since it was first implemented with the first iPhone and iPod Touch back in 2007.

The new batch of iPhones, apart from the usual upgrade in processor and generally fasters speeds, will supposedly feature some new tech onboard.
Rumor has it that the Cupertino company will add a fingerprint scanner to the solitary "home" button for more security when "unlocking" the phone.
Though there is no official release date yet for the new iPhones, it is worth mentioning that T-Mobile, AT&T are Verizon and blocking employee vacations for Sept. 20 to 22.
Less ceremoniously, the phone may also have the ability to use both the front and rear cameras simultaneously.

The upcoming event will most likely be iPhone-specific and will have no news on the new iPads or the much rumored iWatch, which are both very likely to be introduced in the final three months of the year.
