Featuring some of the best and most athletic high school players in the nation, the Global Games International Basketball Tournament today announced its Global Games Select Team. The team is headlined by consensus High School All-Americans Mustafa Shakur, Aaron Brooks, and J.R. Giddens and Texas high school stars Warren Carter (Class 5A Player of the Year), Dez Willingham (Class 5A State Tournament MVP), Jeremis Smith (Class 4A State Tournament MVP) and LaMarcus Aldridge (ranked #4 in Class of 2004).

Last year’s Global Games Select Team was the only United States team to win a gold medal in international basketball competition in 2002. The team featured such current college stars are ACC Rookie of Year Chris Bosh of Georgia Tech, Big Ten Freshman of the Year Daniel Horton, Freshman All-Americans Bracey Wright of Indiana University and Ike Diogu of Arizona State University and Big XII Freshman of the Year Antoine Wright of Texas A&M; University. Dallas Kimball Coach Royce Johnson and Chris Dyer of Texas Class 5A champion DeSoto HS piloted the team to an undefeated record in the tournament.

Dallas Mavericks President and Assistant Coach Donnie Nelson will continue in his role as honorary chairman of Global Games basketball.
