Emergency response team begins Rim Fire rehabilitation assessments

The Burned Area Emergency Response team, composed of scientists, engineers and other specialists from the Forest Service and National Park Service, has begun to finalize a Soil Burn Severity map. The team will use the map to model potential storm impacts and consider emergency stabilization options for critical resources. USDA and Coca-Cola partner to replenish one billion liters of water to nature

CHICAGO, September 13, 2013 –U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack and Coca-Cola Americas President Steve Cahillane today announced a public-private partnership to restore and protect damaged watersheds on national lands. Together these efforts aim to return more than a billion liters of water to the National Forest System – which provides drinking water to more than 60 million Americans. The announcement was made at Midewin Tallgrass Prairie in Illinois.

Becky’s job is all about the outdoors, and she would not have it any other way. Becky is a recreation technician on the Hiawatha National Forest in upper Michigan where among other responsibilities, she manages an island. She believes her job is an adventure and being able to do different things everyday keeps her from ever being bored.
