NBA pre-draft interview quotes from Cody Zeller, a 7-0, 230-pound center who played college basketball at Indiana. Here's what he had to say the day before the 2013 NBA Draft:
Q: What’s the biggest thing you’ve been able to show teams during these workouts?
Cody Zeller: Most of the workouts have been similar. They’ve seen me play for two years in college. The workouts haven’t been a huge deal, but I’ve definitely tried to show my shooting range, because I didn’t show it that much in college. It’s not a huge adjustment, but definitely something I wanted to show.
Q: You showed range in high school. Not so much at Indiana, as it wasn’t called for. Is it really a case of bringing it back into the fold?
Zeller: Yes. I’ve always been able to shoot, throughout high school. It wasn’t like I had to make any major changes. I wanted to shoot it well, and show teams I’ll be able to do it at the NBA level.
Q: What are your expectations for tomorrow night? Do you have a feel for where you might go?
Zeller: All these workouts have gone well. Hopefully I won’t be sitting there for very long. It’s a crazy process. You don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m just excited to figure out where I’m going to be playing, and what city I’m going to be living in.
Q: Have you been hearing any specific teams with serious interest?
Zeller: No, not really. It’s crazy for them, because they don’t know who’s going to be there when they pick. It’s not like they can say one way or the other. That’s the excitement of the NBA Draft. You get to see how it all plays out.
Q: How much do you think you and Victor Oladipo helped each other, with how hard you went at each other in practices at Indiana?
Zeller: We helped each other so much. Both of us are so competitive. We hate to lose, and the coaches know that, so they matched us up in the weight room, and in practice. So, we made each other a lot better, just because we were pushing each other so much. We were both good for each other.
Q: How does it feel to be one day away from your dream?
Zeller: It’s crazy. This whole month has been crazy, traveling around to different workouts. Flying around the country. You have a packed schedule. It hasn’t really sunk in what’s about to happen.
