The first meetings were held in the Old White Horse Inn; then in 1985 the Society moved to The Bell in the centre of Stourbridge. Now meetings are held in the pavilion of Stourbridge C.C. First Class cricket was last played at Stourbridge in 1981 when Northamptonshire were the visitors. 1982 saw the last Sunday League match at the ground against Leicestershire.
Stourbridge still has a mention in Wisden as the venue for Frank Woolley and Arthur Fielder's County Championship 10th wicket record partnership for Kent versus Worcestershire in 1909.
Hopefully we provide a favourable meeting place in the cold winter months for cricket lovers to listen to and hopefully talk to leading cricket personalities and to meet up with old friends.
There are 7 monthly meetings held between October and April. We invite a celebrity speaker - former player, umpire, administrator, writer, statistitian etc. - to 'talk cricket', which is usually followed by a question and answer session.
Our membership fee is £10 per annum with joint husband and wife membership being £15 per annum. At the moment (2010) we have a membership that exceeds 100.
Four newsletters are published each year.
We are pleased to have the backing of our County Club - Worcestershire --- who are only too willing to advertise our meetings etc. on their website.
We welcome new members at all times.
