2013 NBA POWER RANKINGS
Updated October. 22, 2013

NBA Power Rankings 1 Miami Heat 66-16 The champions remain championship-level 2 San Antonio Spurs 58-24 The Spurs always do better than expected 3 Los Angeles Clippers 56-26 Doc Rivers may help these guys rise 4 Indiana Pacers 49-32 Very good last year, got deeper this year 5 Chicago Bulls 45-37 The world watches Derrick Rose's return. 6 Oklahoma City Thunder 60-22 Russell Westbrook is still healing, and OKC's bench is weaker this year 7 Memphis Grizzlies 56-26 Rugged team brings back their key parts, plus Mike Miller's shot is back in town 8 Brooklyn Nets 49-33 Loaded team but will the sum of the parts meet expectations? 9 Houston Rockets 45-37 Welcome to Houston, Dwight Howard 10 Golden State Warriors 47-35 Andre Iguodala is a solid addition. Can Andrew Bogut stay healthy? 11 New York Knicks 54-28 Carmelo Anthony is a star, but Amare Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani are question marks. 12 Denver Nuggets 57-25 Nuggets got weaker. Still solid, especially with that home court "air" advantage. 13 Minnesota Timberwolves 31-51 If they stay healthy, Wolves should be respectable. 14 Portland Trail Blazers 33-49 It's all about Damian Lillard, Nic Batum and LaMarcus Aldridge. 15 Detroit Pistons 29-53 Some talented yet flawed additions this summer, plus young talent = worth watching. 16 New Orleans Pelicans 27-56 Fun roster looks worth watching. 17 Atlanta Hawks 45-38 Hawks are sort of stuff in limbo. Not sure what direction they'll head in the coming months. 18 Los Angeles Lakers 45-37 Pau Gasol, old hurting Kobe Bryant, and limited support. Not much upside. 19 Cleveland Cavaliers 24-58 Kyrie Irving is terrific. Unclear how good/great Anthony Bennett will be. 20 Dallas Mavericks 41-41 The Mavs scrambled this summer to make sure their team is watchable. 21 Toronto Raptors 34-48 Good coach but team has lots of missing parts. 22 Washington Wizards 29-53 Fun backcourt, but limited talent up front and on the bench. 23 Boston Celtics 41-40 The Celtics are built to lose, but compete. Will Rajon Rondo eventually be traded? 24 Milwaukee Bucks 38-44 This is a rebuilding team. 25 Sacramento Kings 28-54 The team got to stay in Sacramento. That's the big win here. 26 Utah Jazz 43-39 These aren't your John Stockton, Karl Malone Jazz. 27 Charlotte Bobcats 21-61 Al Jefferson, an OK backcourt, and filler 29 Phoenix Suns 25-57 There's just not a lot happening here 28 Orlando Magic 20-62 A talented rookie, and question marks 30 Philadelphia 76ers 34-48 Hopefully the young players at least fast-break a lot and make these guys fun
