Discovery Grants Program

The road to a cure begins with basic research. Through basic research we will answer such fundamental questions as what causes psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and what is happening in the body when these diseases are present.

By gaining a better understanding of how psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis behave, scientists can hone in on better treatments and a cure for these devastating diseases.

National Psoriasis Foundation supports the advancement of basic psoriatic disease research through our Discovery Grants program. NPF Discovery Grants exist to:

  • Support innovative pilot studies—studies that may be too small or too risky for large federal funding bodies such as the National Institutes of Health—that further our knowledge of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
  • Provide scientists with the means to test their ideas on a small scale.
  • Help researchers lay the groundwork to secure federal funding to expand their studies.
  • Encourage young investigators with limited track records to study psoriatic diseases.
