The existing OzTips website works on one system whilst our Yahoo!7 sites work on another completely different system. Getting these 2 systems to talk to each other is near impossible. The effort that we could put into making both systems talk to each other is much better invested in creating for you an awesome site that can leverage all the benefits of Yahoo!7 technology directly.

Please follow these steps to UPGRADE your old OzTips account and get tipping again.
1. Go to http://au.oztips.yahoo.com/ and Click “UPGRADE”For some Sports, you can include a "Knockout Comp" within your Tipping Comp. There are no bonus points awarded for the winner of this Comp.
Each Week Tipsters will need to nominate one winning Team that they think will win each Week (Tipsters cannot pick the same Team in two consecutive Weeks). If the Team they select wins, they progress to the next Week. If the Team they select loses or the match ends in a Draw, they are knocked out (Note: this will not knock them out of the overall Tipping Comp - it only affects the bonus Knockout Comp). If your selected Team plays more than one match in the Week, the Knockout Comp is scored based on the Team's first match result.
The Knockout Comp is a bonus game of skill for Tipsters and commences in the Week the Comp Manager activates this feature. Once the first Week of your Knockout Comp closes, Tipsters can not enter it after that time.
If your Knockout Comp does go off sooner than you want it too and you want to run the KO Comp again, all you need to do (as the Comp Manager) is de-select the option for a KO Comp in your Rules, save that change and then re-select to run a KO Comp again. This will re-activate the Knockout Comp for all Tipsters from that next Week. April 13, 3:31 pmA) 5-minutes before the first match of the Week; or
B) 5-minutes before EACH match
Option B will enable your Tipsters to make selections right up until the start of each match and is a good option if a lot of your Tipsters have access to OzTips Mobile (www.oztips.mobi) from their handsets.
If you have already set-up your Comp, don't worry, you can re-configure your Comp at anytime - click 'Comp Rules' then 'Edit Comp' & be sure to let your Tipsters know you have changed the Rules! April 13, 3:30 pmYou can save/copy the banner template into a photo or image editing program and add your Comp Name, a background photo or whatever else you want on your banner.
Please make sure your banner image is 300 pixels wide by 75 pixels high and is saved as a .JPG or .GIF file, less than 15kb in size.
After creating your banner, follow these steps to upload it
1. Login to OztipsThere are two types of Tipping Comps that you can select when setting up your Comp, however not all Tipping types are available for each Sport:
Straight Tipping: This is straight pick the winner Tipping.
Price Tipping: Tipping with points awarded based upon the match's final Tip price. eg. If the final match Tip prices were Knights ($1.35) v Broncos ($2.20) and the Knights won, you would be awarded 1.35 points for that correct Tip. April 13, 3:27 pmTo include State of Origin Tipping within your NRL Tipping Comp, simply select and save at least 1 point for a correct "Finals & State of Origin" Tip in the Comp's Rules. SoO Tips will then become available in Weeks 11, 14 and 17.
Please remind your Tipsters that as the State of Origin is a bonus match in the Tipping Week it is not included for All Correct Bonus points or when you Re-use your regular season Tips as it must be Tipped uniquely in each Comp. April 13, 3:16 pmIf you're the Comp Manager, please follow these steps to invite or remove tipsters to your comp
1. Login to OztipsTipsters receive the "All Correct Bonus" Points if they correctly Tip all matches in a Week. The Bonus only applies to Tips selected and saved by a Tipster (not to Non-Submitters default points) and is awarded in any regular season Tipping Week, regardless of the number of matches played in that Week.
Remember: Any change you make to your Rules or Points set-up will Rescore the whole Comp (including past, current and future Weeks) based on the new Rule so we suggest you do not change or remove the All Correct Bonus points once set unless you really wish to do so. April 13, 2:50 pmIf you're the Comp Manager, please follow these steps to invite or remove tipsters to your comp
1. Login to OztipsIf a tie occurs in your Tipping Comp between Tipsters with the same highest score for a Week, you can select to set-up a "discriminator" to determine a single Top Tipster:
- No Discriminator: You determine your own Top Tipster if there is a tie.
- Closest Margin: Tipsters must guess the difference in scores between the two Teams playing in the Discriminator Match; and the highest scoring Tipster who gets the Margin match Tip correct and the lowest, closest Margin, is the Top Tipster.
If any Tipsters are still tied after the Discriminator is used, the earliest Tip time will be used to select a single Top Tipster for your Comp.
The Top Tipster will then be named first in the Latest Results, followed alphabetically by the remaining Tipsters on equal points. All other Tipsters are ranked by scores, alphabetically. April 13, 8:33 amAshes Tipping runs over the 5 Ashes Tests, with Tip selections depending on the Tipping Format set-up by the Comp Manager:
- Basic Tipping: This is straight pick the Match Winner Tipping.
- Intermediate Tipping: Includes Basic Tipping options (Match Winner) and Total Runs per Innings for the Teams.
- Advanced Tipping: Includes Intermediate Tipping options (Match Winner and Team Run Totals) and Tips for the number of Outs by Type per Innings.
- Expert Tipping: Includes Advanced Tipping options (Match Winner, Team Run Totals and Outs by Type) and Tips for the Runs and Wickets taken by each Player per Innings.
All Correct Bonus points can be set-up in the Rules, and will be awarded to any Tipsters who correctly select all Tips for that match. For example, if you're in a Comp with Expert Tipping, you must get all your Match Winner, Team Run Totals, Outs by Type and Tips for the Runs and Wickets taken by each Player per Innings correct for the Bonus to be awarded.
The Tip cut-off time for both Innings is 5-mins before the first match starts. April 13, 8:31 amA few months after a Sport's season is over, we automatically remove those Comps from the site in preparation for the set-up of the next season. Unfortunately, once the Comps are removed you cannot retrieve any Tips, Results or Tipster lists so please make sure you print any information you may require later on.
Don't worry though, we notify Tipsters via the "Stop Press" news as to when these Comp removals will occur so you'll have plenty of time to Login and print your Comp's info before then! April 12, 6:13 pmShortly before a Sport's season begins, we email Comp Manager's a link that enables them to "clone" their previous Comp's Rules and set-up into a Comp for the new season, and to invite their old Tipsters to Tip again in the new Comp.
Keep an eye on your inbox for our email and the "Clone Comp" link!Your Comp Manager may choose to include a "Knockout Comp" within your Tipping Comp. There are no bonus points awarded for the winner of this Comp.
Each Week you will need to nominate one winning Team that you think will win each Week (Tipsters cannot pick the same Team in two consecutive Weeks). If the Team you select wins, you progress to the next Week. If the Team you select loses or the match ends in a Draw, you are knocked out (Note: this will not knock you out of the overall Tipping Comp - it only affects the bonus Knockout Comp). If your selected Team plays more than one match in the Week, the Knockout Comp is scored based on the Team's first match result.
In the event that all remaining Tipsters are knocked out in the same Week, then those remaining Tipsters are granted a reprieve and allowed back into the Knockout Comp for the following Week until a single winner is determined.
The Knockout Comp is a bonus game of skill for Tipsters and commences in the Week the Comp Manager activates this feature. Once the first Week of your Knockout Comp closes, Tipsters can not enter it after that time. April 11, 5:02 pmYou can see the latest ranks by clicking on the ‘Overall Rank’ link on the ‘Tipping Page’ for your competition.
You can see the latest results for that week by clicking the ‘Latest results’ link on the ‘Tipping Page’ April 11, 4:59 pmYes! Just enter and save your Tips for one of the Comps you are in and click the 'Re-use Tips' link. You will then be able to choose which Comps you want to re-use your Tips in by clicking the checkbox next to each of your other Comps.
Please remember to enter a margin value for any comps that have a discriminator match. April 11, 4:58 pmJust select your Competition from the ‘Competitions’ page and select the middle button for the game you think will be a draw. Don't forget to click 'SAVE TIPS' when finished.
For NRL Tipsters, the Draw is the correct Tip if no Teams have scored during the Golden Point period. A Draw at fulltime means Teams now play for a Golden Point with an extra 5 minutes of match time; then if needed, another 5 minutes. If neither Team scores during this time, the match is declared a Draw. April 11, 4:57 pmYou first have to Register as an OzTips user. This is so we can maintain security of everyone's Tips and other info.
On the Homepage or Login page you will see a button saying 'REGISTER', click this and it will ask you for some basic details. Once completed you will be able to access all of the Comp info. April 11, 4:41 pmTipsters automatically receive a Tip Reminder if they've selected that option under the My Profile section of the website.
http://au.oztips.yahoo.com/profile/
We suggest Tipsters check the SPAM or junk folder in their email to make sure our auto-emails aren't blocked. April 11, 3:54 pmThe Margin is the difference in scores between the two Teams playing in the Discriminator Match.
For example, a Margin of 16 means that you think your Tipped winning Team in the Discriminator Match will win by 16 points.
Your Margin selection must be lower than the actual Match Margin and the Discriminator Match Tip must be correct or else the Margin does not count. The Discriminator Match is the one with the free-text box directly below the first match. April 11, 3:48 pmIf a tie occurs in a Tipping Comp between Tipsters with the same highest score for a Week, the Discriminator rule can be used to find a single Top Tipster in each Tipping Week.
There are 2 Discriminator options that your Comp Manager can choose from:
- Closest Margin: Tipsters must guess the difference in scores between the two Teams playing in the Discriminator Match; and the highest scoring Tipster who gets the Margin match Tip correct and the lowest, closest Margin, is the Top Tipster.
- No Discriminator: The Comp Manager determines their own Top Tipster if there is a tie.
If any Tipsters are still tied after the above Discriminator is used, the earliest Tip time will be used to select a single Top Tipster in the Comp.
The Top Tipster will then be named first in the Latest Results, followed alphabetically by the remaining Tipsters on equal points. All other Tipsters are ranked by scores, alphabetically. April 11, 3:45 pmYes, if your Comp Manager has selected the "View Closed Tips" option in the Comp Rules, you can view the Tips saved by the other Tipsters after that Week's Tip cut-off time has passed.
Navigate to the ladder for your competition and click on the tipster name to view their tips. April 11, 3:41 pmThis is an item we were unable to transfer across. You can create or upload a new avatar image by logging in and going to this page.

April 4, 12:39 pmOn 21 July 2011, we’ll be relaunching OzTips.com with a new site design!
Since Yahoo!7 and Oztips joined forces back in July last year, we’ve been busy working to upgrade much of the technology that OzTips currently uses.
You can check out a preview of the new site here.
On July 21st you will need to follow some easy steps to upgrade your OzTips ID to a new or existing Yahoo!7 ID. We will make these steps clear to you when the time comes.
All of the following will be transferred to the new site on June 23rd as part of this upgrade.
