Much like the machete-wielding death elemental whose murderous adventures it chronicles, the Friday the 13th franchise is returning from the deep of Crystal Lake with little to no explanation.

Paramount Pictures has scheduled a thirteenth Friday the 13th for March 13, 2015.  Yes, that's a Friday the 13th.  Dun dun dun!

Just as its central monster lays low for twenty-two years at a stretch, the Jeepers Creepers movies have been dormant for a while.  A decade, to be exact.

According to no less a source than writer-director Victor Salva, though, the Creeper could very well fly again soon, with renewed interest in Jeepers Creepers 3.

Horror fans have worshiped at the altar of Dario Argento for decades.

As a writer in the late 1960's, the Italian filmmaker worked with Sergio Leone and Bernardo Bertulucci on the story for Once Upon a Time in the West, a truly great spaghetti western and one of the finest films ever made.  As a director, Argento first made an impression with pulpy, lurid giallo movies like The Bird With the Crystal Plumage, Profondo Rosso, and Cat O' Nine Tails.

But horror and Argento are inextricably tied together.  He is perhaps best known for Suspiria, the atmospheric terror tale that has maintained a passionate following since 1977.  Films like Inferno and Phenomena hold up as identifiably Argento movies removed from the crime tropes of giallo.

With Dracula 3D, now in limited release, Dario Argento tackles the Bram Stoker novel that has been a staple of the genre and popular culture for well over a century.  And this master of old school horror does it in three dimensions.

Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong, Valkyrie) stars as Argento's Count Dracula, while Spanish star Unax Ugalde (Goya's Ghosts) plays Jonathan Harker, along with Marta Gastini (The Rite) as Mina Harker.  Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner, Hobo With a Shotgun) lends support as Abraham Van Helsing and the writer-director's daughter Asia Argento (xXx, Land of the Dead) as vampiric Lucy Kisslinger.

After premiering at last year's Cannes Film Festival, Dracula 3D is now in limited release Stateside, presenting IAR Managing Editor Jami Philbrick with a unique opportunity for an exclusive interview with Dario Argento.  The legendary director enthusiastically discussed his use of 3D, the film's relationship to Stoker's original text, his cast, finding the right castles and villages for the film, CGI, and his continuing impulse to make movies.

A whole lot of embarrassing parents are going to be pointing out that they're not too bad compared to Margaret White.

Overbearing as they may be, it's a safe bet that these mothers or fathers don't self-flagellate or start telling the kid that they werre born of sin when their prom date shows up.  Julianne Moore does both in some examples of extreme parenting from two new Carrie clips.
