Opening in theaters on December 6th is the new thriller from director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) entitled Out of the Furnace, which was co-written by Cooper and Brad Ingelsby (The Dynamiter). The film truly features an all-star cast that includes Academy Award-winners Christian Bale (The Fighter), and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Academy Award-nominees Casey Affleck (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford), Willem Dafoe (Platoon), Woody Harrelson (The People vs. Larry Flynt), and Sam Shepard (The Right Stuff), and popular actress Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness).

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Woody Harrelson and director Scott Cooper to talk about their work on Out of the Furnace. The acclaimed filmmaker and Oscar-nominee discussed their new film, its incredible opening scene, how it sets the tone for the movie and Harrelson's character, why Jaws was an inspiration for his role, his challenge in humanizing his villainous character, the use of Pearl Jam's Release in the opening and ending credits, and Eddie Vedder's unique contribution to the project.
