Twelve 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Images Featuring Mutants Old and New

Prepare for Mutantpalooza 2014.

A dozen official images are here to hype audiences for X-Men: Days of Future Past, which clearly aspires to be the ultimate X-Men movie, uniting two continuities and bringing together the biggest ensemble of superpowered outcasts in the franchise's thirteen-year history.

This bumper crop of images includes new looks at Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Peter Dinklage, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore.  Though they don't pop up in these new pictures, the cast also includes Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Omar Sy, Lucas Till, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, and Booboo Stewart.

Taking its conceptual cue from Chris Claremont and John Byrne's two-issue tale of the same name, Days of Future Past finds Professor X and Magneto executing an ambitious plan to avoid a horrifying future in which mutants are hunted by Sentinels and most of the X-Men have perished.  Sending Wolverine's consciousness back in time to the early 1970s, they intend for the adamantium brawler to help the young Xavier in saving the future via the past.

Director Bryan Singer returns to the franchise he started, looping together the timelines of his X-Men movies and the 2011 prequel X-Men: First Class.

These images, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly and Empire, round up a bunch of mutants we already know and love, along with Dinklage as the villainous Bolivar Trask and even behind-the-scenes looks at Lawrence, Stewart, and Singer on set.

Yesterday, Fox teased out a look at this prequel-sequel clocking in at under ten seconds, hyping the debut of the first official trailer online Tuesday, October 29th.  Check out the video tease by clicking right here.

And stay tuned for more news and goodies relating to X-Men: Days of Future Past, which hits theaters in 3D on May 23, 2014.
