The Week with that was with Tim McMillan

Every Friday Justin catches up with Channel 9 news anchor Tim McMillan to run through the biggest and most interesting news stories from the past week, it’s more than just the news story, listen for their opinions on the week that was. You can catch Tim, 6pm weeknights on 9 news in Perth and across WA on the WIN TV Network.

Tim McMillan joined Nine News Perth as Newsreader in January 2013. A born and bred Perth boy, Tim finished a Bachelor of Science at UWA before deciding to pursue his interest in news. He completed a degree in Broadcasting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts then landed a job at ABC 720 Perth.

But the travel bug proved too difficult to shake. He headed overseas for a year before settling in Melbourne, returning to ABC Radio. In 2007 he swapped radio for TV, joining Nine News Melbourne. In the years since, he’s covered some major stories, including the Black Saturday bushfires, Australia’s longest terrorism trial and the final inquest into the death of Azaria Chamberlain. During his time in Melbourne, he won two Quill Awards for Best Television Report.

In 2010 he moved north to join the Nine News team in Sydney and continued to cover some of the biggest events, including Cyclone Yasi. In early 2012, he moved back to Melbourne, before getting the call to come home. He returns to Perth with his wife and their two year old son.
