In late July comes the Royal Welsh Show, held at the Royal Welsh Showground at Llanelwedd, just north of Builth Wells in mid-Wales. The Royal Welsh Show is the biggest agricultural show in Europe, transforming this sleepy market town on the River Wye into a bustling visitor attraction.

It celebrates local farming and rural life over four days with a variety of events, including carriage driving, mounted games, a parade of hounds, trotting, livestock competitions (with categories that include hunters, shires, agricultural heavy horses, beef and dairy cattle and sheep) and a display of vintage machinery.  

The Royal Welsh Show strengthened its claim to be the biggest and best-attended event of its kind in Europe when arecord 241,099 visitors including over 777 from 39 countries around the world, passed through the gates of the showground at Llanelwedd, Builth Wells.
