Grange Park Opera

30.05.14 - 20.06.14
near Northington, Hampshire

Hampshire's Grange Park, a ruined early 19th-century Greek revival house in magnificent countryside, is the dramatic setting for this small-scale festival inaugurated in the late 1990s.

Around five different operas are staged each June and July, in a new and award-winning theatre constructed within the old Orangery in 2003. The long interval allows time for dinner at Grange House, amidst trompe l'oeil hangings and chandeliers.

Alternatively, picnics can be taken in a marquee or an Indian pavilion; if weather permits, the terraces, with their sweeping views over the parkland, are ideal.

The 2013 Grange Park Opera season features: Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Bellini's I Puritani, Pouleric's Les Carmelites, Joseph Calleja and Messager's Fortunio.
