Formula 1 Season

March 2014

Melbourne Grand Prix

13.03.14 - 16.03.14
Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia

Subject to FIA approval, the 2014 F1 racing season will once again launch with the Melbourne Grand Prix at Albert Park.

The Melbourne street circuit was built utilising public roads within a city park, near the Melbourne central business district. The 16-turn circuit measures 5.3 km, and is famous for its smooth running and high speeds.

The British driver Jenson Button led Brawn GP (in its Formula 1 debut) to a stunning victory after starting in pole position. The event got off to a contentious start when several of the teams protested that the diffusers on the Brawn, Toyota and Williams cars were illegal. The stewards rejected the protest, and a later FIA hearing confirmed that the diffusers were legal.
