Featuring millions of tulips and other bulbs, floral shows and the Netherlands' largest sculpture park within a former castle estate, the Keukenhof Gardens in Holland are one of the season's must-sees. Some of the most impressive Low Country cities - The Hague, Rotterdam and Antwerp - are just a short drive away.
The world's largest flower garden opens to the public only in spring, when its famous tulips and other bulb flowers are in full bloom. The idyllic 80-hectare site is also home to three pavilions hosting weekly-changing flower shows, seven themed 'inspiration gardens' displaying the latest garden trends - appealing to both traditional and modern tastes - and around 25 bronze statues by prominent artists.
Special events include a four-day Tulip Event (18-21 March), a Summer Bulb Weekend (16-18 April), the passing of the Flower Parade as it makes its way between Noordwijk and Haarlem (24 April), an Orchid Weekend (1-2 May) and the largest Lily Show in the world (6-16 May).
