- Finalise the requirements for the style of ceremony chosen.
- Discuss the music with an organist, music group or wedding music company.
- Discuss readings with the minister or registrar.
- Ask family members or friends if they would like to read at the ceremony.
- Choose the caterers.
- Research table settings, menus and seating plans.
- See a wine merchant/venue representative about drinks.
- Choose and order the wedding cake.
- Choose flowers for bridal bouquets, bridesmaid bouquets, buttonholes, the venue and table centres.
- Finalise the guest list.
- Design and order the invitations and envelopes.
- Send out save the date cards (or emails).
- Book and pay deposits for the florist, photographer, caterers, cake-making company and stationer.
- Confirm and book musical entertainment for the reception.
- Reserve any extra sound equipment or furniture required for the reception.
- Book crèche facilities or child entertainers.
- Book a toastmaster, if required.
- Book transport/wedding cars to and from the wedding venue for the bridal party.
- Check transport arrangements for the groom's party.
- Book transport for the guests (if required).
- Organise a going-away car to the wedding-night hotel or airport.
- The groom should book a hotel room for the wedding night (if required).
- Book local hotel rooms or B&B for wedding party, close family and block book guest accomodation (if required).
- Buy/order the wedding dress.
- Look into bridal accessories - veil, shoes, underwear and cover-up.
- Book make-up and hair stylists for a trial run and the wedding day.
- Decide on a wedding-list company and register.
- Book the honeymoon.
