Royal County of Berkshire Show

20.09.14 - 21.09.14
Newbury Showground, Thatcham, Berkshire

The Newbury and District Agricultural Society, which organises the Royal Berkshire Show, celebrated its centenary in 2013.

This two-day event, held in mid-September at Newbury Showground, celebrates the region's farming and rural communities. Livestock shows are the highlights of the event - with grand parades of champion cattle. There are also agricultural and countryside stands, a harvest festival service, a countryside pageant, a show garden, coaching parades, heavy horse displays, hot air balloon rides, and scurry racing (ponies 'scurrying' around a twisting course).

On both days the cream of British show jumping is on display in the main arena - the final of the Show Jumping Series is a fitting climax to the show.

There are more than 500 stalls, offering visitors a real taste of the countryside, with plenty of local produce on display. In addition, 2013 will see two spectacular displays from the RAF: on the Saturday, 10 members of the Falcons Parachute Display Team will descend on the Main Arena following a unique ariel freefall display and on Sunday, a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will take place.
