British Cheese Festival

19.09.14 - 21.09.14
Cardiff Castle, South Wales

Held over a weekend in late September, this British cheese festival moved around each year after its inception in 2000 but finally found a permanent home at Cardiff Castle in South Wales in 2008.

Describing itself as a mix of a royal picnic and a 'farmers' market with attitude', it features Britain's biggest cheese market (with nearly 200 stalls and over 450 British and Irish cheeses to sample and buy, including Lincolnshire Poacher and Cashel Blue), but also offers masterclasses, workshops and demonstrations.

Accompany the cheese with whisky, beer, cider, perry and wine tastings, and a wealth of other products, from gourmet breads to prize-winning pies. The Festival even plays host to the World Cheese Tossing Finals - invented in 2001 - and cheese skittles.

The dates for the 2013 festival are provisional and won't be confirmed until July.
