US Open Golf

12.06.14 - 15.06.14
Merion Golf Club

The annual US Open Golf Tournament, the second of four major golf championships is staged at a variety of courses across the country. This year it will be hosted, for the fifth time, and for the first time in 32 years, at the Merion Golf Club.

The Open Championship dates back to 1895, when it was played on a nine-hole course in Newport, Rhode Island. In the modern history of the championship American players have dominated - there have been only five winners from outside the USA since 1950.

The Open 2012 was won by Webb Simpson who beat 2014 champion Graeme McDowell and qualifier Michael Thomson by one stroke.

Anticipation for the 2013 Open is high, with changes being made to the course and the majority of tickets selling out before the end of 2012.
