The Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt is the largest wine festival in the world. Located in the heart of Germany's Pfalz region, this festival is over 570 years old.
You will have the opportunity to enjoy over 150 different wines from 50 different places. You can sample the wine in large wine halls or at 36 historical 'Schubkärkchler' - small, simple wine stalls with scrubbed wooden tables, where you can try the local wines accompanied by delicious traditional sausages.
The Wine Village showcases the products from the wineries of Bad Dürkheim, with classic whites, sparkling wines and dark, rich reds. Or you can take up position in the Winegrower's Garden, an open courtyard with sunshades and plants, and a central wine pavilion.
If the children get bored while you're sampling the local viticultural delights, you can always take them to the travelling fairground that operates throughout the festival.
The market takes place in two segments, from 12-16 September, and from 19-22 September.
