June 2014Garsington Opera
Founded in 1989, Garsington Opera ran for 22 years in the gardens of the stunning Garsington Manor in Oxfordshire.
In 2011 the company moved to the Wormsley Estate, home of the Getty family. A new Japanese-style Opera Pavilion has been built, providing outstanding acoustics and unique views of the beautiful surrounding landscape.
Now under the directorship of Anthony Whitworth-Jones, Garsington Opera presents three operas each season during June and July. The 2012 season presented Mozart's Don Giovanni, Vivaldi 's L'Olimpiade and Offenbach's La Périchole.
There's a long interval for guests to picnic or dine in the marquees; prior to the performance one can take tea or champagne on the lawns.
2013 programme details can be found on the website.
