The opening match of the 2013 Ashes series is hosted at Trent Bridge.
Nottingham's county cricket ground is one of Test cricket's oldest venues (the ground was founded in 1841), and played host to England versus Australia in 1899, the first match of England's first five-match test series. W.G. Grace, who was then 50 years old, played in this match, the last of his illustrious career.
Many cricket fans deem Trent Bridge one of the world's best grounds for spectators; features range from an 1899 pavilion to the modernistic Fox Road Stand with its roof resembling an aircraft wing.
The ground has had a new stand plus extra seating created for the 2008 Test match against New Zealand. It can now host 15,000 spectators, and is regularly sold out on big cricketing occasions. The intimate nature of the ground leaves the spectator feeling thrillingly close to the action.
The Radcliffe Road Stand provides excellent views of the ground. The venue also has one of Britain's finest state-of-the-art scoreboards, proffering an array of statistics.
