July 2014Kent Beer Festival
This three-day event is the second-oldest Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) beer festival in England.
It is held in a barn deep in the heart of Kentish brewing country. The Festival features over 120 real ales and ciders; there are ten local Kentish breweries represented, and over 40 breweries from all over the UK. There is a special cider bar, offering such notable local ciders as Crippledick, Double Vision and Rough Old Wife. Over 100 draught and bottled beers from all over the world are also featured.
On the Thursday and Friday evenings there is musical entertainment, while all day on Saturday you can enjoy music, Morris dancing and children's entertainment.
On entering the Festival you purchase a glass and tokens (no further money exchanges hands). Both can be exchanged for cash at the end of the festivities. Food stalls around the barn (which take cash not tokens) offer curry, hot snacks and local cheeses.
