Film director/producer and comic book writer David Guy Levy (Terri, Would You Rather) appeared at Comic-Con International 2013 in San Diego on Saturday to promote his new digital comic book series Back to Back to the Future, which is currently available for free online and was based on the beloved Michael J. Fox film trilogy. 

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick had a chance to speak exclusively with David Guy Levy about his work on Back to Back to the Future. The filmmaker turned comic book creator discussed his new digital comic book series, the film it is based on, how he came up with the idea for the project, what the original film's creators and actors think about the comic, and when it will be available in graphic novel form. 

Much like an honest Detroit cop brutally gunned down in the line of duty and reborn as an unstoppable piece of law enforcement tech, RoboCop is returning in a new form.

RoboCop, a modern remake of Paul Verhoeven's brilliantly acidic satire, is hitting theaters next year.

So far, Sony Pictures has kept its promotion of the RoboCop quiet, issuing nothing so much as an official, properly lit image of Joel Kinnaman (AMC's The Killing) in costume as the new title character.  During its presentation in Hall H last Friday, however, Sony debuted first look footage from the remake for the crowd in San Diego Comic-Con's single biggest venue.

The RoboCop panel also found director Jose Padilha (Elite Squad 2: The Enemy Within) taking the stage to shed some light on his approach.  He was joined in front of a 6,000-strong crowd by actors Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Abbie Cornish (Limitless), and Michael Keaton (The Other Guys). 

Prior to the big show in Hall H, though, Padilha and company partook in a private press conference, fielding questions from a small group of entertainment journalists looking to shed light on RoboCop.  IAR was on hand for the press conference to hear the director and stars discuss how they became involved in the project, developing a more superhuman RoboCop, differences between the new movie and the original, shooting the remake, and the story's new thematic focus.

Co-directors Kris Pearn and Cody Cameron, and actors Anna Faris (The House Bunny), Bill Hader (Super Bad), and Terry Crews (The Expendables 2) appeared in Hall H at Comic-Con International 2013 in San Diego on Friday to discuss their new film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, which opens in theaters on September 27th.

The co-directors discussed the upcoming movie, directing the sequel, its impressive 3D, their love for improvisation, recasting Mr. T's character with Terry Crews, and the possibility of a third film.

On behalf of IAR, with special questions prepared by IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick, Joel Amos had a chance to speak exclusively with producer Avi Arad about The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The veteran producer discussed the highly anticipated new movie, choosing its villains, casting Chris Cooper as Norman Osborne, when he will become the Green Goblin, if the end credit scene in The Amazing Spider-Man will be addressed in the upcoming sequel, actress Felicity Jones recent comments about her role, cutting Mary Jane Watson from the project, and if Martin Sheen and/or Denis Leary will appear in flashbacks.

Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, and Sebastian Stan discussed the upcoming movie, how Captain America is adjusting to his new world, his relationship to Black Widow, Bucky Barnes role in the film, the introduction of The Falcon, if he will soon be joining The Avengers, VanCamp's character, and if Agent Phil Coulson is really a robot. 

Having crossed the Golden Gate Bridge to liberty two years ago, Caesar the kick-started of the ape-apocalypse has led his simian army south this weekend.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set to continue the durable Planet of the Apes franchise in theaters on July 18, 2014.

So while 20th Century Fox's packed Hall H presentation focused mostly on Marvel's merry mutants, the ape-centric sequel to a prequel was also the subject of a panel stoking the flames of anticipation for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes with a first look at unfinished footage.  Not only that, but the filmmakers discussed the next step in Caesar's journey during a press conference prior to the big Hall H show.

Director Nimrod Antal (Predators), actor Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Metallica members James Hetfield (Guitarist), Lars Ulrich (Drummer), Kirk Hammett (Guitarist), and Robert Trujillo (Bassist) appeared in Hall H at Comic-Con International 2013 in San Diego on Friday to discuss their new film Metallica Through the Never, which opens in theaters on September 27th.
