BIRTH PLACE
Westerly, Rhode Island

“Do NOT say you 'can’t'! You can say, 'I don’t want to.' You can say, 'I’m not willing to put forth the effort.' But DO NOT say you CAN’T!”

Tony Horton is the workout guru responsible for developing P90X, the world’s leading at-home fitness program. This wildly popular workout plan has reportedly shipped north of three million DVD sets to date and spawned three follow-up plans: P90X Plus, P90X One-on-One and P90X2. In December 2010, based on P90X’s overwhelming success, Rodale published Horton’s first book, Bring It!

MAGNETISM

Not only is Tony the man behind P90X, but he’s also the company’s on-air face. Tony personally leads all P90X DVD workouts, and does so with his patented brand of humor and charm. It’s hard not to get wrapped up in Tony’s infectious enthusiasm. Plus, at 54 years old, it’s hard to argue against the fact that Tony has a better physique than most 24-year-old men.

SUCCESS

P90X, which many call the most popular at-home workout plan in history, is constantly picking up steam. Celebs like Ashton Kutcher, Pink, Emmitt Smith and even the 2012 Republican vice-presidential candidate, Paul Ryan, have all publicly stated their devotion to P90X. It’s undeniable that any and all P90X momentum equates to continued success for its creator, Tony Horton.

Tony Horton Biography

After growing up in Connecticut and attending college at the University of Rhode Island, in the early ‘80s, Tony Horton decided to move west. Heading to Los Angeles with dreams of finding fortune and fame as an actor, he struggled to make it and for a brief time earned a living as a stand-up comedian, but with minimal success. Little did Horton know that, decades later, he’d find his fame and fortune in front of the camera, just in a far different manner than he originally expected.

PERSONAL TRAINING

While in Los Angeles, Horton began working out at the World Gym in Venice Beach. It’s here that he made the conscious effort to avoid the bulky, non-flexible bodybuilder look, and instead focused his exercise routines on speed, flexibility, balance and muscle growth. After delving deeper into the world of fitness, Tony decided to become a personal trainer. He opened ASH Fitness, based in Santa Monica, and started training Hollywood A-listers like Billy Idol, Tom Petty, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and even Bruce Springsteen.

TONY TEAMS UP WITH BEACHBODY

In 2001, BeachBody, a company branded as the creator of the nation’s most popular in-home fitness and weight loss solutions, approached Tony. Horton’s first venture with the company was Power 90, an in-home boot-camp-style workout video, which he both helped develop and starred in. By 2004, Horton had created the much more intense P90X program, which promises users a more ripped physique, contains more rigorous workout plans and features a comprehensive nutrition guide.

To date, P90X is by far the best selling product BeachBody has ever produced.
