![]() Top 10 'M:TG--Born of the Gods' Cards Before and After the Pre-ReleaseColumn by Ray MoorePublished: 02/13/2014 01:25am As of today, "Brimaz, King of Oreskos" is the hottest card in Wizards of the Coast's Magic: The Gathering--Born of the Gods set, as measured by total dollar amount sold through the TCGplayer.com website. Born of the Gods continues the storyline of Theros, features the addition of multi-colored god cards, and will be a key player in shaping the format for upcoming events like our TCGplayer Player Appreciation Weekend. During the preorder season for Born of the Gods (January 13th - 31st) a number of cards stood out as chase cards for the set.
Brimaz, King of Oreskos in first place is no surprise as the card has been discussed as a cornerstone of deckbuilding in the Standard format since its reveal. The remaining cards on the list, such as Xenagos, God of Revels and the Temples, are cards that were anticipated as having an impact on the Standard format. A number of cards began to grow more popular once players had a chance to play with them at Preleases and discuss the kinds of decks that will be developed.
The biggest change on the list is that Courser of Kruphix debuted at third and is proving to be a strong option in the Green/Red decks that are gaining ground in the format. The top cards continue to be ordered in large quantities, with players still feeling out the set to gauge its impacts on the top decks of the format. These frontrunners give us an idea of what cards players are considering for upcoming events. --Ray Moore is the Content Manager at TCGPlayer.com.
