On Friday, March 14, Ambassador Norland, along with the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Lia Gigauri and other Georgian government officials, gathered at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Tbilisi to acknowledge 35 Peace Corps Volunteers who will be completing their service to the people of Georgia later this summer. CDA Brink Gives Opening Remarks at Project Launch for ILO’s Labor Inspectorate Assistance (March 7)
On March 7, Chargé d’Affaires Bridget Brink delivered remarks at the project launch for the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) project to strengthen compliance with international labor standards. Supported through a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, the ILO work will aim to re-establish a labor inspectorate in Georgia and to expand the capacity of public servants, judges, union leaders, and private sector leaders to uphold Georgian labor law. CDA Brink Attends GFSIS Discussion on Upcoming Nuclear Security Summit (March 5)
CDA Brink gave opening remarks at a roundtable discussion on Georgia’s role in the upcoming Nuclear Security Summit. The government of the Netherlands will host the third Nuclear Security Summit on March 24-25 in The Hague, and the event today featured Dutch nuclear security expert Dr. MC Schrader, Georgian government officials who are preparing for the Summit, and NGOs discussing the global nonproliferation agenda.
