Super League Grand Final

11.10.14
Old Trafford, Manchester

Old Trafford plays host to the dramatic climax of rugby league's Superleague title. Massive crowds flock to the Manchester stadium to watch the two teams go head to head, and the atmosphere in the stadium is electric. There is pre-match entertainment, with a line-up of famous musicians getting the capacity crowds into the mood.

The Superleague is Europe's top-level professional rugby league competition, and encompasses 14 teams: 12 from England, one from Wales and one from France, which compete between February and October.

The switch to a summer season in rugby league took place in 1996 - the first time in a century that the competition was held in the summer months.

During the Superleague's regular season, teams play 27 games. In September, the top six teams compete in the play-offs, which culminate in the Grand Final. The current title-holders are the Warrington Wolves who will be looking to hold onto their 2012 title.
