We asked our Twitter followers to reveal their favourite beaches - the results are some of the most beautiful stretches of sand on Earth.

Koh Lipe is a tiny Thai island set in the Andaman Sea near the Malaysian border. @lauraball123 says: "Sunrise on the beach at Koh Lipe is beautiful! Once you're on the island, it's very easy to get to... Getting to the island [itself] takes a few hours but is worth it! Pretty quiet and secluded... "

I remeber going to a cottage in Anglesey when I was a little boy with the school on holiday no electric or gas no showers no lights just paraffin ones hard beds Smile washing in the brook felt like torture at the time but now I have fond memories looking back and I always loved the beach there I can't remember the name of it but Anglesey has some wonderful beaches here is 1 for example.
Newborough beach National Nature Reserve from Llanddwyn Island, Anglesey, Wales.

Barrafundle really is amazing. Sheltered by cliffs each side it is a sun trap (yes the sun does shine in Wales) and because you have to walk a little way to get there few people visit.  The last time we were there there was just a man and his dog besides us.

I love Polzeath beach in Cornwall it’s popular with families it’s ideal for those who wish to surf the waves and there are coastal paths to walk, when it’s warm with the Sun a shining for me there’s no better place to be besides the sea.

The one next door to Barrafundl Bay --Broad Haven South is better in my opinion and there is the backdrop of the lily ponds as a bonus and it has a stream for children to play in

Barrafundle is wonderful, best in springtime before it gets too busy but because of the trek across the clifftops to get there never gets too busy.

I just love this beach. In my view definately the best beach in Great Britain. When walking to it across the headland from Stackpole Quay be carefully especially with children and pets as there are shafts that drop right down to the caves below and these flood at high tide.

Many years ago I used to go to Farelight Glen near Hastings. It was a wonderful place to explore. Very wild and untouched. To access it was a two mile walk across the fields. We used to camp there for the weekends. Some of the best days ever were spent there. Things have changed these days. The cliffs have eroded and fallen and now I understand it is a naturists reserve. Nothing stays the same.

Why is it so hard for MSN to mention Wales or England? Why "the UK"? When you mention Mexico, you don't say South America. Or France is forgotten in favour of "Europe",
Why, oh why, oh why?

Barafundle, Pembrokeshire is the most beautiful, tranquil place though a bit of a walk to get to.

There is also a naturist beach between Amroth & Marros (I think it's called Morfa Bychan) but again it is a bit of a trek to get there
