Australian Geographic and the South Australian Museum are delighted to announce the opening date of the 2014 Australian Geographic ANZANG Nature Photographer of the Year, Australasia’s most prestigious nature photography competition.

The 2014 prize pool is valued at more than $45,000 and we have introduced a new category – animals in their environment. We hope this and the other categories inspire you to participate in this globally recognised competition.

The 2014 competition opened on Monday 20 January 2014 and closed on Friday 7 March 2014.

A selection of shortlisted photos will appear in the Sep/Oct 2014 issue of AUSTRALIAN GEOGRAPHIC and on our website. The winners will be announced at the South Australian Museum on 9 October 2014. The overall winner will receive $10,000 in cash, and a voyage for two aboard the National Geographic Orion along the Kimberley coast in 2015.
