GAIN Invited into Official Relations with World Health Organization (WHO)

The World Health Organization (WHO) has welcomed the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) into official relations. After consideration by its Standing Committee on Non-governmental Organizations, the WHO Executive Board confirmed GAIN’s position in support of WHO’s nutritional policies, including those on infant feeding and the promotion of complementary food.

The ‘Fortification in Edible Oil with Vitamin A Bill, 2013’ was passed today by the Bangladesh Parliament. Hon’ble Minister for Industries Dilip Barua moved the Bill, for its passage in an amended form.




Member of the GAIN’s Board of Directors appointed Director at FAO

Member of the GAIN’s Board Directors, Dr. Anna Lartey, has been appointed Director, Nutrition Division at FAO Headquarters in Rome, by José Graziano da Silva, Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Dr. Larty takes up her new responsibilities on October 1.

GAIN very much welcomes the appointment and looks forward to continued collaboration with Dr. Lartey.
