Non-governmental Organizations

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play a central role in designing and delivering nutrition interventions and programs to vulnerable groups within society, and in advocating for support for better nutrition at national and global level.  GAIN maintains a wide range of relationships with NGOs focusing on advocacy, implementation, policy, research and capacity development around nutrition.

Many food fortification projects funded by GAIN include a variety of NGOs and  other civil society organizations as implementing partners. For example, GAIN is funding the Naandi Foundation to improve nutrition in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.  As part of a government mandated school lunch program, the Naandi Foundation prepares hot meals in centralized locations and delivers them daily to schools throughout the state. GAIN has assisted the Naandi Foundation to ensure that meals are made with foods fortified with key vitamins and minerals.
