How to Obtain SSCM Software

SSCM14 is available to organizations in the U.S. and abroad, subject to review by the Export Control Office. Secondary distribution of the software, including allowing outside contractors to use the software, is not permitted. No license fee is required.

Please read all the instructions below.

For U.S. citizens working in the U.S.:
Fax or mail a letter on company letterhead requesting the software (see contact information below). The letter should state that you want a copy of SSCM14, the intended use of the software, the name of the recipient, mailing address and email address. The email address will be used to distribute the model electronically.

Upon approval to receive SSCM14, you will be sent a software license agreement and some other forms, which will need to be filled out and returned. The software will be sent to you upon receipt of a signed license agreement.

For U.S. citizens working abroad or non-U.S. citizens either working in the U.S. or abroad:
SSCM14 can only be provided when a validated export license has been obtained in accordance with U.S. government export regulations. If you would like to request an export license to receive SSCM, please provide the information below. Fax or mail a letter on company letterhead with your responses (see contact information below). There is no fee for the request and the process will be handled by The Aerospace Corporation. You will be notified if and when the license has been approved. The process for approval normally takes 1 to 3 months. This export license is solely for the end user and not for the institution as a whole. Multiple end users require multiple licenses.

Required information:

  1. Country of ultimate destination.
  2. Name, street address, and telephone number of foreign end-user.
  3. Name, street address, and telephone of foreign consignee, if applicable.
  4. Specific purpose for which the material is required, including specific program/product and its intended end use.

Please also include an email address. This information is not required for the license, but will be used to distribute the model electronically.

Regarding 2 and 3 above: If you are the end user, only the information from 2 is required.  If you are passing the model onto someone else (who cannot pass it onto anyone else), that person would be 2 and you would be 3.

Note: If you are a professor/instructor at a foreign university and you will provide access to the model to your students, you are required to provide the student’s names and copies of their passports with your request. If you will be restricting the use solely to yourself, please make that clear in the request.

Upon receipt of the above information, you will be sent a software license agreement and some other forms, which will need to be filled out and returned. Once you have returned these forms, the process to obtain the export license will commence. The software will be sent to you upon completion of this process.
