Liverpool have agreed a £14m fee with Sunderland for the Italian striker Fabio Borini, according to reports.
Borini, who joined Liverpool in 2012 from Roma, spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light and scored seven Premier League goals, including the winning penalty against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in April. The manager, Gus Poyet, has acted to make his move permanent after having an initial bid of £10m rejected.
The 23-year-old will become Sunderland’s fourth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Billy Jones from West Brom, Jordi Gómez from Wigan and the goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon from Manchester City.
